ride safely!

Heartland Bike Share respects all road users. Everyone deserves the right to get home safely, and that’s why we encourage our users to know and follow the rules of the road before departure.

Check out resources like Nebraska Bike/Ped Laws (courtesy Bike Walk Nebraska) and Biking in Omaha (courtesy City of Omaha Planning), or biking rules and resources from your local jurisdiction.

top tip!

Bike share is an integral piece of public mobility, but may not meet all of your transportation needs. A Free Rides pass provides unlimited 60 minute checkouts, where trips begin and end any Heartland Bike Share station. If you need a personal bike that you can keep all day—or one you can ride where HBS stations do not exist—we recommend Community Bike Project of Omaha. Also consider Metro Transit connection options such as Metro Transit Bus Routes, Omaha Rapid Bus Transit (ORBT) and the Metro Flex program.

faq

why free rides?

We believe every person in our community should have reliable access to a bike. Bikes can do more than just take us places… they can bring us together.

It’s this belief that shapes our vision for a more mobile, more connected Omaha Metro.

Through Free Rides, we’re delivering on our mission to support active mobility as a means to live our best lives.
